Good AMC’s paying full fee with reasonable turn times are hard to come by for sure, but they do exist. The good ones generally do not advertise, and of course, are rarely advertised by other appraisers as they don’t want to help feed their competition. This is understandable, yet at the same time, there seems to be a misconception floating around among many appraisers that all AMC’s are evil because they pay low, are overbearing and/or have unreasonable turn time demands. This is simply not true. Yes, many of them are no fun to work for, but that does not mean they are all bad. You just rarely, if ever, hear about the good appraisal management companies because again, appraisers don’t want their competition to know who they are.
The only real way to know if they are good or bad for you, is to find out for yourself.
